Mahmoud Darwish Memorial (August 16th, 2008 at 7:30 PM) It was with great sadness that Palestinians and their supporters received the news of the death of Mahmoud Darweesh on August 9, 2008. Darweesh was considered the Palestinian national poet laureate and was one of the best known internationally of the first generation of "resistance poets" after the Nakba.
