Voice of Palestine
Since 1987

19 August 2008

The show will be about a Palestinian prisoner, one of over 11,000 Palestinian prisoners held hostage in Israeli jails.
The performance entitled THE UNIVERSITY OF MAJD is by Peter Schumann, the artistic director of Bread & Puppet. http://www.breadandpuppet.org/index.html

THE UNIVERSITY OF MAJD is about a young Palestinian man who was taken during the mass arrests of April 2002, and is now spending a 30-year sentence in an Israeli prison.  The texts used in the performance are from emails that were sent by Edward Mast during Majd's arrest, trial and sentencing. Edward Mast is a playwright and performer whose play SAHMATAH, co-written with Hanna Eady, was shown in Vancouver in the 1990's and has been playing in the Middle East and Europe since 1998.
